What is Free or Open Source software?

In a nutshell, open source software is computer software that is distributed along with its source code - the code that is used to create the software - under a special software license. This allows you to use, change and improve the software's source code, and to redistribute the software either before or after it has been modified.

Most of us have enough to worry about every day. Who wants to worry that the software police are going to come knocking on our doors because someone install commercial software on our computer without our knowedge. Open source software takes that worry away. We can install and use it on any machine without the threat of the software police coming. Free Open Source Software ( FOSS ) is incredible. At Feyka.com we strive to provide the best cutomer service possible to our clients. One way we do that is by leaving them with a network diagram or map that includes all usernames, passwords and configurations. That way if something comes up, you the client are not at our mercy for information about your network. Whether you end up one of our clients or you choose to go somewhere else, please make your technician leave you that important information. We have provided a sample Network Information Sheet.
